Thank you for your interest!

I'm so glad you decided to learn more about Christian Life Coaching!

What is a Christian Life Coach?

A Christian Life Coach is a trained professional who helps individuals grow in their personal, spiritual, and emotional lives through a Christ-centered lens. Unlike therapy, which is usually focused on healing past trauma or diagnosing mental health issues, life coaching looks forward. The main goal of life coaching is to help individuals gain clarity, set goals, overcome obstacles, and live out their God-given potential.

At its core, Christian Life Coaching integrates biblical principles with proven coaching strategies to help people align their everyday life with their faith, values, and God’s purpose for them.

What Does a Christian Life Coach Do?

A Christian Life Coach may help clients:

  • Deepen his/her relationship with God through spiritual practices, prayer, and scripture reflection
  • Discover purpose and calling, whether personally, professionally, or within ministry
  • Set and achieve life goals aligned with biblical values
  • Build healthier habits and thought patterns rooted in truth and grace
  • Navigate life transitions such as career changes, grief, parenting, or      retirement
  • Overcome obstacles like fear, self-doubt, stress, or burnout
  • Strengthen relationships through communication, forgiveness, and godly perspective
  • Grow in confidence and courage by learning to trust God more fully

Christian life coaching is action-oriented and forward-looking, often blending coaching tools like assessments, journaling, goal tracking, and reflective exercises with prayer and biblical encouragement.

What makes Christian Coaching Different from Other Types of Coaching or Counseling

  • Faith-Driven Approach – The Bible is central. I support clients by helping them align their life choices with biblical truth.
  • Spirit-Led – I invite spiritual discernment alongside practical decision-making for both myself and my clients.
  • Whole-Person Focus – I believe that God is working in every area of life, so I attempt to help clients focus on emotional, relational, and personal growth – along with spiritual growth.
  • Not Clinical Therapy – Christian Life Coaching is not mental health counseling or therapy. Coaching is forward-looking and focused on growth, not healing past trauma. I am not a certified mental health professional, but I am continually building a network of trained, certified professionals, to which I can refer clients when needed.

What Happens in a Christian Life Coaching Session?

Each session is approximately 60 minutes and may be conducted in person (at my office) via video call (using Microsoft Teams, a HIPAA-compliant platform). While coaches differ in their own approaches, a session with me generally includes the following elements:

1. Opening in Prayer

The session usually begins with a short prayer to invite the Holy Spirit into the conversation, setting the tone for Christ-centered guidance and peace. This also depends on the comfort level of the client/participant. I will often do this on my own, before meeting with the client, especially with a client who is currently in a difficult relationship with God.

2. Check-In

I usually do a brief check-in with the client. I’ll ask how he/she is doing physically, mentally, and or spiritually since our last meeting. We will spend time reviewing and reflecting on any goals or assignments from the previous session, and we will explore any new developments since they last spoke.

Example:
“We talked about working on a morning routine and trying to follow it at least 3 days a week? How did it go? What did you notice about your stress levels after implementing those habits?”

3. Exploration and Discussion

The heart of the session involves deep, guided conversation. I attempt to ask questions that are powerful and thought-provoking because I want the client to explore his/her beliefs, struggles, and choices. I try to be prepared to talk over those facets in light of Scripture.

Sample questions:

  • “How have you seen God working in your current circumstances?”
  • “What do you feel God inviting you to do in this season?”
  • “Where do you feel stuck, and what might obedience look like in that area?”
  • “How is your identity in Christ shaping your decisions right now?”

4. Reflection and Insight

The client will then reflect on what he/she is learning—about God, themselves, and/or others. I usually offer biblical encouragement, a relevant scripture, or a gentle challenge to limiting beliefs.

5. Action Steps and Accountability

We end the session with a clear set of steps to work toward a goal that the client has set for himself/herself. These are spirit-led, practical goals that the client commits to working on before the next session. (I often use the SMART system of Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic/Relevant, and Time-Bound.)

Example:
“This week, I will take 15 minutes each morning for quiet reflection and prayer, and I’ll begin writing one gratitude item in my journal daily.”

6. Closing with Prayer and/or Scripture

I will usually close with a prayer or Scripture relevant to the client’s circumstance. Again, this is also dependent on the client’s comfort level. The prayer would be affirming God’s presence, wisdom, and strength as the client walk out their next steps.
